CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Stockton Heat got a power play goal from an awkward bounce off a skate and David Rittich took care of the rest in a 1-0 shutout win over the Texas Stars on Saturday night in front of 7,008 at Stockton Arena.
Rittich finished with 32 saves in the win. Landon Bow stopped 24 of 25 shots in net for the Stars (5-5-0-1). Garnet Hathaway tallied the lone goal in the game.
The Stars continue their four-game road trip Sunday at San Jose at 7 p.m. CST.
After a scoreless first period, the Heat (7-3-0-1) opened up the scoring midway through the second on a power play goal. Hathaway was credited with his seventh of the season when his poke check in a crowd of players deflected the puck off the skate of Dillon Heathering and past Bow.
Texas made a final push with the extra attacker in the closing minutes of the third, but could not crack the Heat's veteran netminder.
Texas finished 0-for-5 on the power play. Stockton went 1-for-5.
