CEDAR PARK, Texas - Jason Dickinson added to his team-leading goal total, but a three-goal second period by the San Diego Gulls broke open a tie game and handed the Texas Stars their first loss of the 2017-18 season, 5-1, on Saturday night at Valley View Casino Center.

Dickinson's lone goal late in the first was his fourth of the season. Travis Morin tallied the assist to extend his point streak to five games. Kevin Boyle stopped 19 of 20 shots in net to corral the Texas offense. Mike McKenna suffered the loss with 24 saves.

Things got away from Texas (3-1-0-0) in the second as San Diego (2-1-0-0) buried three goals to open up a 4-1 lead. Steve Oleksy slipped a point shot through traffic just over a minute in to break the tie. Mike Liambas finished off a shorthanded 2-on-1 midway through with Kale Kossila for his first of the season, and Kevin Roy converted a counter-attack rush from the left circle in the final minute of the frame.

San Diego opened the scoring five minutes in off a turnover in the Texas zone and a loose puck in front of the net that Alex Dostie stuffed home for his first career goal. Jason Dickinson responded with three minutes remaining by poking home a rebound off Travis Morin's deflection for his team-leading fourth of the season.

Texas finished 0-for-3 on the power play. San Diego was 1-for-5.
