Dallas Signs Alex Chiasson, Set to Join Texas Stars

Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced on Monday that the NHL club has agreed to terms with forward Alex Chiasson on a three-year entry-level contract. He will join Dallas’ primary development affiliate, the Texas Stars, for the remainder of their AHL season.
The 21-year-old forward turns pro after three seasons at Boston University. The right winger led the Terriers in scoring this season with 46 points in 38 games played. Chiasson scored 15 goals and added 31 assists for collegiate highs. He tied for the team lead in assists and was third overall in goals scored. The St. Augustin, PQ native finished fourth overall in scoring among all skaters in Hockey East and 14th nationally among all Division-1 skaters this season. The 6-3, 202-pound forward was named a 2012 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and was honored as Hockey East Player of the Week twice this season (March 12 and Feb. 20).
“We’re excited to have Alex join the Texas Stars for the remainder of their season,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He has had an impressive college career and we look forward to watching him continue to develop as a professional in our system.”
In three years with Boston University, Chiasson scored 36 goals and added 63 assists for 99 points in 108 games. The 6-3, 202-pound forward was named a 2012 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and was honored as Hockey East Player of the Week twice this season (March 12 and Feb. 20). In the summer of 2009, he was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round with the 38th overall pick.
Texas concludes a three-game road trip on Tuesday, March 27th at Lake Erie at 6:00 p.m. (CT). Texas returns home to face the Hamilton Bulldogs on Thursday, March 29th at 7:30 p.m. Thursday’s game is a 3-2-1 night, featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas, and $1 hot dogs. On Saturday, Texas will host Lake Erie at 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center. The first 2,500 fans to the game will receive a Texas Stars hockey puck, compliments of BossyHD. Saturday is also State Farm Family four-pack night with four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas starting at $48. On Sunday, Texas hosts Puck N Paws day at Cedar Park Center. The team will host Lake Erie at 5:00 p.m. and fans will be permitted to bring their dog to the game, while sitting in a designated pet-friendly section - equipped with water and relief stations. Fans wishing to bring their dog to the game will need to book their tickets in advance and show proof of recent shots / spay-neuter.
