Nov 8, 2016Stars Prepare to Host San Jose Barracuda in Two Weekend Games

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars return home for a weekend set of games against the San Jose Barracuda after earning four out of six points on a three-game road trip.

November 11 at 7:30 p.m. CST and November 12 at 7:00 p.m. CST vs. San Jose Barracuda:
The Stars and Barracuda meet for the first time this season after splitting last year’s season series with three wins each. Last year’s series marked the first time the two franchises met as the Barracuda relocated from Worcester, Mass. to join the Western Conference. San Jose forward Nikolay Goldobin led all skaters with seven points (6-1=7) in six games played. Four Stars players had four points in the series against San Jose, including Jason Dickinson and Matej Stransky who each scored three goals.

November 2, 2016 at Tucson Roadrunners, 4-3 Win:
After leading his team in game-winning goals a season ago, Jason Dickinson picked up right where he left off on Wednesday night with the overtime-winner to lead the Texas Stars to a 4-3 road win over the Tucson Roadrunners at Tucson Arena. It was the season debut for Dickinson after missing the opening month of the season. Matej Stransky also scored for the Stars for the fourth straight game. Phil Desrosiers turned aside 22 shots in his second win of the season. Adin Hill stopped 35 shots in the losing effort as the Roadrunners saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
November 4, 2016 at Bakersfield Condors, 3-1 Win:
The Texas Stars offense scored a trio of goals and Maxime Lagace did the rest with 34 saves in net to lock up a 3-1 road win over the Bakersfield Condors on Friday night at Rabobank Arena. It was the fourth straight win for the Stars this season, and the seventh straight win over the Condors franchise since the team relocated to California from Oklahoma City. Austin Fyten muscled home the game-winning goal, and first shorthanded goal of the season for Texas, off a second-chance play in front of the net. November 5, 2016 at Bakersfield Condors, 5-3 Loss:
The Bakersfield Condors opened up a 4-1 lead and never looked back in a 5-3 win over the Texas Stars on Saturday night at Rabobank Arena. The Stars saw their four-game win streak come to a close in the loss. It was also Bakersfield’s first win over Texas since Feb. 24, 2015, when they competed as the Oklahoma City Barons. Ethan Werek (assist) and Austin Fyten (goal) each extended their point streaks to three games for the Stars. Taylor Beck led the Condors with four points (1-3=4) on the night.

The Texas Stars are four regular season wins away from 300 in franchise history entering this weekend. Texas carries a 296-155-40-29 all-time record in their AHL tenure. With an assist on Saturday at Bakersfield, Andrew Bodnarchuk tallied the 150th point of his AHL career, and is two games shy of 500. Friday’s game at Bakersfield was the 100th in the AHL career of Mattias Backman. Stars captain, Travis Morin, is three games shy of 650, three points shy of 600 and three assists shy of 400 in his pro career overall.

Friday and Saturday is the Stars’ first Military Appreciation Weekend of the season when they host the San Jose Barracuda. Texas will wear specialty military-themed jerseys that can be bid on throughout the weekend in a silent auction. The auction winners will be able to pick up their jerseys and meet the player after Saturday’s contest.
Friday is a Hat Trick Friday with the Stars where fans can enjoy $3 specials on beer and soda, and $4 specials on Robert Mondavi Private Selection Wine. Fans can also save $12 on a pair of tickets with a Texas Stars Two-Pack.
Saturday’s game features a Military Rally Towel giveaway, courtesy of Re-Bath of Austin. Saturday is also a Texas Lottery Lucky Row Night where the first Stars player to score wins free scratch tickets for a lucky row of seats at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. Fans can also take advantage of Coke Zero Family Four-Packs on Saturday with four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks starting at just $16 per person.
