CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars compete in a home-and-home series against the in-state rival San Antonio Rampage before the Christmas holiday.

December 21 vs. San Antonio Rampage at 7:30 p.m. and December 22 at San Antonio Rampage at 7 p.m. CST:
The Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage will square off for their fourth and fifth meetings of the season in a home-and-home set of games. Texas currently holds a 2-1-0-0 record over San Antonio in their first three encounters. Forwards Brandon DeFazio and Justin Dowling lead all skaters in the series with three points (1-2=3) in three games for the Stars while San Antonio has three players tied with two points in three games. Texas netminder Maxime Lagace has a 1.99 GAA and a .931 SV% in all three of his starts against the Rampage.

December 16, 2016 vs. Milwaukee Admirals, 4-3 Loss:
After three lead changes and a tightly played contest, Felix Gerard’s third period goal held up as the game-winner as the Milwaukee Admirals edged the Texas Stars in a 4-3 final on Friday night at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. Girard’s goal came 6:29 into the third, but after that it was Milwaukee’s goaltender Marek Mazanec that finished the job with 17 of his 36 saves on the night coming in the final period of play. Justin Dowling scored the Stars’ eighth shorthanded goal of the season to extend their American Hockey League lead. Texas captain Travis Morin appeared in his 500th career AHL game.
December 17, 2016 vs. Milwaukee Admirals, 9-1 Loss:
After a down-to-the-wire meeting on Friday night, the story was much different on Saturday as the Milwaukee Admirals skated away with a 9-1 win and a weekend sweep of the Texas Stars at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. Travis Morin scored the lone goal for the Stars late in period two from Jason Dickinson on a rebound chance. Reid Boucher (2-1=3) and Harry Zolnierczyk (2-1=3) each tallied a three-point night for the Admirals.

The Stars are currently 2-2-0-0 in their 11-game stretch where they won’t leave the state of Texas. Justin Dowling tallied an assist on Friday against Milwaukee to pull him into a tie with Greg Rallo for third all-time in franchise history with 191 career points. It also pulled him into a third-place tie with former captain Maxime Fortunus with 123 assists in his Texas career. The Stars scored another shorthanded goal on Friday to give them eight on the season, leading the AHL. Texas has tallied five shorthanded goals in their last nine games. The Stars’ franchise record for shorthanded goals in a season is 13, set last year.

Wednesday’s game against the Rampage is H-E-B Food Drive Night where the Stars will be collecting food items for the holiday season. Fans who donate eight, or more, H-E-B-branded non-perishable food items will receive a free ticket to that night’s game. Fans can start donating their food items at the box office at 10 a.m. CST.
It is also a Winning Wednesday game for the Stars. If Texas wins, fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to the team’s next Wednesday home game on Jan. 18, 2016.
