SAN ANTONIO - It took more than sixty minutes of hockey for a goal to be scored but at the end of it all it was Dominic Toninato who ended the game 1:12 into overtime to give the San Antonio Rampage a 1-0 win over the Texas Stars on Friday night in front of 7,525 fans at AT&T Center.
Toninato's overtime-winner was his sixth goal of the season, and his fourth against the Stars this season. The rookie forward capped off an odd-man rush from the right circle as the Rampage (18-12-2-0) beat the Stars (18-11-3-1) in overtime for the second time in three days.
Texas returns home to host the San Diego Gulls on Saturday at 7 p.m. CST in their final game of 2017.
Mike McKenna suffered the loss despite stopping 27 of 28 shots in net for the Stars. Ville Husso earned his first career shutout in net for the Rampage, also with 27 saves.
Neither team could really generate much offensively throughout the game as Texas finished 0-for-3 on the power play and San Antono, 0-for-2. The two teams combined for just 14 shots in the period of the contest.
