ROSEMONT, Ill. - Nothing has been easy this season between the Texas Stars and Chicago Wolves, and it was more of the same on Saturday at Allstate Arena as Texas pulled out a 2-1 shootout win in front of 6,027 in attendance to close out their three-game road trip.
Five of the six meetings between the Stars (35-24-7-4) and Wolves (38-21-7-3) this season were decided by a goal, including two in overtime and two in regulation. Texas opened up the scoring early with the first period's only goal as Justin Dowling batted in a loose puck in the goal crease for his second straight game with a goal and his 13th overall this season.
Brandon Pirri responded for the Wolves during a 4-on-4 stretch with 6:30 left in period two after steering Phillip Holm's centering pass past Bow for his 29th goal of the season.
