Shore Scores his Team-Leading 12th Goal of the Year

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Devin Shore scored his team-leading 12th goal of the year and Jack Campbell turned aside 30 shots as the Texas Stars opened up their four-game road trip with a 3-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Tuesday night at Rabobank Arena.

It was the Stars (10-7-0-1) third straight win over Bakersfield (7-8-0-1) and after struggling to start the season, Texas tallied a power play goal for the fifth straight game.

The Stars continue their road trip on Wednesday when they visit the San Diego Gulls at 9:05 p.m. CST.

The Stars notched an early 1-0 lead when Matt Mangene smacked a power play goal escaping Ben Scrivens from the left circle on a pass from Greg Rallo and Brendan Ranford at 2:43 in the first period. After a Julius Honka hooking minor, Brad Hunt countered from the blue line just with a banked shot off the crossbar with help from Nikita Nikitin and Andrew Miller just over a minute later to knot the score.

At 11:32 of the second, Devin Shore tallied his team-leading 12th goal and 18th point of the season as he snuck one through on a scramble in front of the Condor net with an assist from Travis Morin to put Texas back in front 2-1. The Stars extended their advantage to 3-1 on a textbook counterattack rush passing effort from Branden Troock and Gemel Smith to set up Esa Lindell, who finished from the top of the slot at 18:17 for his third of the season.

The Stars’ defense and special teams thrived in the final period, as Texas had to evade four penalties to secure the 3-1 victory. Twice, Bakersfield held a two-man advantage on the ice with a 5-on-3 power play late in the third and a 6-on-4 in the final minute after the Condors pulled their goalie.

Ben Scrivens suffered the loss with 28 saves.

Texas went 1-for-4 on the power play. Bakersfield finished 1-for-6.
