Texas Stars Sign Goalie Philippe Desrosiers to ATO
Apr 22, 2014CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that the club has signed goaltender Philippe Desrosiers to an amateur tryout contract.
Desrosiers, 18, (pronounced duh-ROH-see-ay) just concluded his third season with Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). During the 2013-14 season, he posted the fourth-lowest goals against average in the QMJHL (2.65), was tied for the sixth-highest save percentage (.907) ranked fifth in overall wins with a 31-14-7 record and was one of only six goalies in the League to post at least five shutouts (5). The native of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec also earned a 7-2-1 record with a 2.34 GAA and a .917 SV% in 11 playoff contests in 2014.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound goaltender was drafted by Dallas in the second round (54th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Stars on April 19th.
The Texas Stars will begin the 2013-2014 Calder Cup Playoffs as they face the Oklahoma City Barons for Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 23rd for a 7:00 p.m. face off at Cox Convention Center.
