Texas Stars Foundation Donates $21,000 to BCRC
Mar 13, 2014CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that the Texas Stars Foundation has donated $21,000 to the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas (BCRC) as a result of the funds raised during the team’s fourth annual Pink in the Rink Weekend presented by Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.
This year’s donation to BCRC is the largest in the history of the Texas Stars Foundation’s Pink in the Rink fundraisers. Last year’s third annual Pink in the Rink Weekend raised $17,500 for breast cancer research and awareness.
“The generous donation from the Texas Stars allows the Breast Cancer Resource Center to provide patient navigation, education and support services free of charge to anyone affected by breast cancer,” said Ray Anne Evans, Executive Director of BCRC. “Our partnership with the Texas Stars is ensuring that we continue to provide the resources to lighten the burden of a breast cancer diagnosis for the women of Central Texas.”
The Stars wore special pink-themed jerseys in two home games against Charlotte Checkers on February 21st and 22nd at Cedar Park Center and those game-worn jerseys were auctioned off as part of the fundraising efforts. Throughout the weekend, breast cancer survivors and volunteers participated in various in-game activities, such as pre-game flag presentations and intermission contests. Additionally, funds from the February 22nd Chuck-A-Puck and a portion of money from tickets sold through BCRC directly benefited the organization.
