TEXAS STARS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced on Wednesday that the Dallas Stars have reassigned forward Jake Hauswirth to Texas from the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League. In addition, forward Stephen Schultz has been assigned by Texas to the Idaho Steelheads, the ECHL Affiliate of Texas. The Stars also announced that forward Brenden Connolly has been released from a PTO (professional tryout agreement).
Hauswirth played in 11 games for Texas earlier in the season, setting up one goal for his first AHL point. He started the 2011-12 season with Rio Grande Valley, scoring six goals and adding ten assists for 16 points in 24 games played. The Dallas Stars acquired Hauswirth in a trade with the Florida Panthers on December 7. Dallas sent forward Krys Barch to Florida in exchange for Hauswirth and a sixth-round pick. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound right wing is in his third pro season, spending the first two pro years in the ECHL with Cincinnati and South Carolina. In all, the Merrill, WI native has played in 146 pro games, scoring 35 goals and totaling 79 points.
Schultz scored seven goals and totaled nine points in 32 games for the Stars this season. He joined Texas in late March of 2011 after concluding a four-year career at Colorado College from 2007-11. The 24-year old rookie played in five regular season games without registering a point for the Stars in 2010-11. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward posted WCHA highs as a senior in 2010-11, scoring 17 goals and totaling 45 points in 43 games played. In his final two years as a Tiger, Schultz set up 43 goals and totaled 65 points in 71 games. For his collegiate career, Schultz scored 36 goals and totaled 86 points in 127 contests. The rookie played with current Dallas goalie Richard Bachman at Colorado College.
Connolly played in 12 games for Texas this season, registering two assists for the Stars. At the time he joined Texas, he was third overall in the ECHL scoring race, potting 20 goals and dishing out 23 assists for 43 points in 31 games with Greenville.
Texas will also host Milwaukee on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday is an H-E-B Night, if fans bring a non-perishable H-E-B food product to the Cedar Park Center box office - they will receive $5.00 off the ticket price. Wednesday is also a Winning Wednesday - if the Stars win, every fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the March 7th home game. The Stars start a three-game road trip on Friday, February 10th against the Rochester Americans at 6:35 p.m. Texas will then face the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday, February 12th at 3:00 p.m. and conclude with a visit to the Lake Erie Monsters on Wednesday, February 15th at 9:45 a.m.
