Mar 15, 2012Hockey Team to Honor Military Families, Raise Funds for Charity
Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars, in conjunction with the Texas Stars Foundation, announced on Thursday that the organizations raised more than $23,000 to support area charities during Military Appreciation weekend held on March 9th and 10th, 2012.
Fans in attendance at the weekend games showed their support via participation in Chuck-a-Puck and mystery puck fundraisers, as well as through the purchase of specialty game-worn camouflage jerseys. Fans were offered the opportunity to bid on the jersey worn by their favorite player as the Texas Stars hosted the San Antonio Rampage. Each jersey winner also received a meet-and-greet with the player after the game and the opportunity for photographs and autographs.
With the support of presenting sponsor United Heritage Credit Union, season ticket holders, and individual supporters, the Texas Stars donated nearly 2,000 tickets for military families to attend the game. Active duty soldiers and Veterans from all branches of the military attended Friday and Saturday’s game and enjoyed activities and military-oriented presentations with help from the Texas Army National Guard.
As part of the Texas Stars’ ongoing commitment to supporting our nation’s heroes, Roger Beasley Audi sponsors a Military Salute for every home game for the entirety of the 2011-2012 regular season. During each home game, the salute recognizes the outstanding efforts of a current soldier or veteran and provides complimentary tickets and parking courtesy of Roger Beasley Audi.
