Ondrej Vala Joins Stars from Steelheads
Oct 17, 2019CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today that defenseman Ondrej Vala has been reassigned by the organization from the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads, to Texas.
Vala, 21, completed his first pro season in 2018-19 playing nine games AHL games with Texas and recorded an assist. Additionally, the blueliner skated in 55 ECHL games and 11 playoff games, earning 13 points (3-10=13) with a +16 rating. Vala skated in a pair of preseason games with the Stars and has already logged two games with Idaho this year.
The 6-foot-4, 209-pound native of Kolin, Czech Republic signed an entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars in 2016 and played in the WHL with Kamloops and Everett. In 191 games, he earned 74 points (21-53=74) and an additional 13 points (2-11=13) in 35 playoff games.
The Texas Stars return to H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. to begin a pair of home games against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
