Dallas Stars Assign Ritchie, Jokipakka to Texas
Oct 1, 2014CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars announced today their NHL parent club, the Dallas Stars, has reduced its training camp roster, assigning forward Brett Ritchie and defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka to Cedar Park.
Ritchie, 21, returns after scoring 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists) in 68 regular season games last year. The Orangeville, Ontario native also added seven goals and four assists in 13 Calder Cup playoff games for Texas. Ritchie was a second-round pick (44th overall) of the Dallas Stars in 2011.
The 23-year-old Jokipakka (YIHR-kee YOH-kee-PAH-kah) appeared in 68 regular season games last year for Texas, and all 21 playoff contests. The Tampere, Finland native was a 2011, seventh-round pick (195th overall) for Dallas.
The Texas Stars training camp roster now sits at 34 players. The team will compete in preseason contests against Oklahoma City on Friday and San Antonio on Sunday. The team’s season-opener is on Oct. 11, against the Iowa Wild.
