Bourque is coming off a 2021-22 season where he registered 68 points (20-48=68) in 31 games with Shawinigan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He got a taste of pro hockey with Texas during the 2020-21 season, playing in six games with a goal and four assists for five points. He made his AHL debut May 6, 2021, against Tucson and earned his first professional points when he registered three assists in his fifth game May 14, 2021, at Iowa. He proceeded to follow it up with his first career goal as well as another assist en route to a 3-2 Texas victory over Iowa May 15, 2021. He appeared in 172 career QMJHL games, all with Shawinigan, recording 236 points (93-143=236). Additionally, he helped Team Canada win the silver medal at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, with one assist in five games during the tournament.
