The Texas Stars earned a point in the standings but dropped both games of their Midwest road trip over the weekend.
Friday, the Stars paid a visit to the Rockford IceHogs at the BMO Center in Rockford, Illinois.
Just over one minute into the game, Oliver Moore put Rockford on the board with a goal during a delayed penalty. The IceHogs carried that lead the rest of the way through the first and second periods.
In the third period, Antonio Stranges tied the game at 1-1 after Kyle Capobianco made a play along the boards and sent the puck into the slot, where it found its way onto the stick of Stranges. This marked his second goal of the season.
The two teams ended regulation tied and headed to overtime. In extra time, Moore was the hero when he skated into the left circle, fired and beat Remi Poirier on the stick side. The Stars earned a point in the overtime loss.
Saturday, the Stars made the short trip north to Milwaukee to take on the Admirals. Texas opened the scoring in the first period with a goal off the stick of rookie Artem Shlaine. Cameron Hughes skated into the zone and found Shaline trailing behind. Shlaine fired and beat Admirals goaltender Matt Murray on the glove side for his first professional goal.
Shortly thereafter, the Admirals tied it at 1-1 when Ryder Rolston had an open lane to the net and beat Poirier. With just over five minutes left in the first period, rookie defenseman Trey Taylor tallied his first goal of the season when he sent a nifty backhand shot through traffic that beat Murray. The Stars carried a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
The second period was nearly over when Milwaukee's Matthew Wood fired a one-timer that sailed past Poirier on the power play and tied the game at two.
Just under two minutes later, defenseman Kyle Capobianco skated along the blue line with the puck and haphazardly threw a shot toward the goal. The shot fooled Murray and short-hopped into the net. giving Texas the lead once more.
Texas held strong in the first half of the final frame but a cross-checking penalty on Capobianco led to Milwaukee tying the game at 3-3 on the man-advantage with less than 10 minutes left in regulation. Daniel Carr gave Milwaukee the lead late during a chaotic play in front of Poirier. The Admirals sealed the win with an empty net goal and skated away with a 5-3 win.

We're excited to bring back some of our favorite community initatives this season. In October, we are visiting six different schools as a part of our Floor Hockey program in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital. During a floor hockey session, the Texas Stars Foundation provides sticks, nets, floor hockey balls, a training course, and we finish with a game. At the end of the program, we donate all the equipment to the school.
Captain's Kids also returns this season. In 2023, Captain Curtis McKenzie started a program alongside the Texas Stars Foundation that welcomes children to Texas Stars home games who are disabled, sick/injured, or financially unable to attend on their own.
