Texas Stars Sign Austin Fyten

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced Saturday they have signed forward Austin Fyten to an AHL contract for the 2016-17 season.
Fyten (FIGH-tihn), 25, returns for his second stint with the Stars organization after appearing in 11 games during the 2012-13 season. Last season, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound winger recorded 20 points in 41 games for the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays (9-11=20). He also played six games for the AHL’s Hershey Bears.
The Sundre, Alberta native carries 128 total games of AHL experience in his career with Texas, Hershey, the Oklahoma City Barons and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Prior to his professional career, Fyten played five seasons in the Western Hockey League from 2007-2012 with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Vancouver Giants.
The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, and will begin their eighth season at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in October.
